Hi! My name is Sun Chung aka Hungry Gopher. I am the creator and host of the Hungry Gopher
website and YouTube channel. Hungry Gopher came to life when I came into
jackpot of turning points in my life, aka a mid-life crisis. In the year 2013, I came into the perfect
storm of events that one would call a  midlife crisis. The industry I had built my career in over
the past 10 years in Los Angeles literally melted down. I also hit 40 and I was feeling old. I was unsure as to where my future might lie. Most of my close friends moved out of the
city, so my social life shrank. Mr. Lunch and I finally came to a decision
to try to have a baby, but alas nature didn’t cooperate. Then, I felt trapped and depressed.  At first, I waited for things to happen. Then one day I realized that I was done “waiting”. I was ready to take action
to get what I wanted in my life, to LIVE. I am introverted by nature. Sometimes,  I just want to stay down in my
hole and play it safe. But, when curiosity comes over me, I pop out
of the hole with a strong urge to learn about the world
around me and grow. If you are watching this, I know the Gopher
is in you, too. In the midst of growing Hungry Gopher, I caught
a big break, or rather I received a wakeup call. I’ve suffered from numerous allergies and
a chronic skin condition, called Seborrheic dermatitis since I was little
kid. It’s called 지루성 피부염 in Korean. For over three decades I used steroidal medicine
to alleviate the symptoms. Last year, in August of 2015, I  learned
that I could treat the cause, not the symptoms by changing my lifestyle. By no other force than altering my diet and
modifying small things in my life I was able to alleviate my chronic
symptoms. Some of you viewers may have noticed some
dietary shifts in my recipes over the past year. This is the natural evolution of my channel,
based upon my diet. A lack of gluten,
more organics and less refined sugar aren’t marketing gimmicks. They are what work for me body and they can
work for you, too. For the first time in my life, in over 3 decades,
I have been free of taking steroidal medicine. So it’s your turn. I’ll share the knowledge and experience
that I’ve learned through my research, trial, and errors. Your body has an incredible healing power
inside it. IF and only IF you provide it with the right
environment and the right nutrition. Work with your body and mind,not against it. Here are some of the side effects of eating
real foods and avoiding fake foods that I have observed over the past year. I’ve lost a total of 14 lbs/ 7kg that I had
never been able to shed over the years. Most importantly, I feel both wholesome and
content. So now it’s your turn. Start with the small things that you can do
today. Here are three things you can try immediately. Number 1, Drink water. If you are not a fan of drinking water, check

nvest 10-minutes of your day to set your day on the right path. Number 3. Eat probiotic foods, such as kimchi. Check out
my website for simple kimchi recipes and more information about kimchi. I’ll make sure to continue to share with you
what I have learned. But, you hold the key. You are the only one that can take action. Do what you can with what you have at where

  5. When you were on diet, how did you eat with kimchi. Did you eat with rice too or you were avoid any carbohydrate too.

  6. inspirational video! We love you so much (and your food). Me and my boyfriend started to take dieting seriously. We bake more, barely use any oils, drink a lot of water, watch our portions, cut out junk food, and try our best to consume the least amount of sugar. I lost about 10lbs in a week and a half. Let's see how far our diet takes us! Thank you!

  8. I was very touched by this video. I'm crossing a midlife crisis myself. I'm 40 and never been able to get pregnant. I also came in my twenties to US from Mexico. I am currently overweight and I noticed that Korean food uses lots of vegetables and looking for ideas is that I came across your channel. I really appreciate your ideas and all that you share with us. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. I look forward to the things you will share in the future.

This is seriously inspirational!!! my friend has a very similar case of that skin disease. at first the doctors thought it was some sort of fungus problem. but then he swapped to a completely Keto diet, and miraculous, ALL of his itching went away. he's been feeling so much better since, as well.

    i can definitely relate with the midlife crisis part!!! stay strong!! you are so beautiful~

  11. i thougt you were in your mid 20 koreans always look youger and have clear skin .i love korean food but unfortily we dont habe korean supermarkets in frankfurt germany

Share the secret milady!!) Also…. Interesting and touching story, in many ways similar to mine (and perhaps many others).
