Channel Trailer | Veganlovlie Fusion Mauritian Recipes | Vegan / Vegetarian Recipes

In this life, we feel, there are not a lot
of things that we hold onto from the past; it’s like as time goes by we are just writing
on water. But when we are away from our home country,
our family, food is what connects us with home, taking us back to where we come from. The vegan recipes that we feature on this
channel depict a fusion-style cuisine. Fused with culinary influences from the countries
that we have lived in and a tang of Mauritian inheritance, every recipe has a story imprinted
with our unique touch. I am Teenuja, I am Kevin. We were born in the beautiful tropical island
of Mauritius – land of the dodo – this is where we were raised. We have travelled and lived in different countries
and we are now settled in Canada, currently living in Montreal. We’ve been vegan for more than 9 years. Through living in different countries, we
have learnt to adapt to the local ingredients and the food culture. Living abroad has made me realise how much
I was fond of Mauritian food. Growing up in Mauritius, I never really paid
much attention to the richness of the local cuisine. Mauritian cuisine by itself is a myriad of
different cultures and cuisines, namely Creole or African, Chinese, European and Indian. This has sprouted into something really quite
unique to Mauritius. I have been cooking since I was around 12
years old, before we were vegan. After making this lifestyle change I started
experimenting and creating meals around vegetables which were then the basis
for main dishes. With a new canvas to work with and hundreds
of different types of vegetables available, the possibilities seemed endless
and it literally is. I have probably inherited my fondness for
cooking from my mum. She is well-known in the family for her wonderful
tasty dishes. My fascination and love for fruits came from
my dad who owns a small fruit stall at the market in Port Louis, Mauritius. Even as a kid, as my mum would relate, I was very
fond of cooking utensils. And I was often caught red handed rummaging
in the cupboards in search of pots, pans, spoons and ingredients even, to play with. Toys probably failed to impress me as much
as pots and pans did. What started as a blog evolved into this channel
where we can share our recipes in a more artistic, concise, and close manner. Cooking, especially vegan cooking, may seem
daunting for many. We therefore strive to present our recipes
in a step-by-step process in an attempt to show that the whole process of cooking is
not difficult. It can be very enjoyable, relaxing
and a fulfilling experience. Even just preparing the ingredients, the vegetables,
the herbs, mixing the spices and bringing them together in a nourishing dish is a celebration
in itself. There’s a whole story happening here itself. I need no other reason to cook than the sole
rejoicing at the very act of cooking. It’s comforting. We post new videos every week. You’ll find recipes and ideas for breakfast,
lunch, dinner, desserts, drinks, what we ate in a day and grocery haul videos. So, make sure to subscribe and visit us at
our blog where you can find the printable versions of all the recipes. You can also subscribe to our mailing list
and we’ll send you an email every time we have a new recipe on the blog. This way you’ll never miss a recipe. See you around on the channel.
