Healthy Chips REVIEW – Taste Test | Trying Out Healthy Snacks

Boo! Hi and welcome to the video! So
today I’m super excited because I am going to be taste testing a bunch of
different chips and if you know me, then you know that I love chips. I’m obsessed
with chips. But seriously I do enjoy chips and that’s why I’m pretty much
always on the hunt for healthier chips. But I’m sure you guys know that it can
be hard to find chips that are healthy but taste good at the same time. So as
you can see, I went to Whole Foods and what I did was I tried to pick out the
healthiest chipss that I could find that I haven’t tried yet and what I’ll do is
I’ll try them out in this video and then I’ll let you know what I think. So the
first thing I want to try are these paleo puffs and they’re by a brand
called lesser evil. It’s grain free and it’s made with organic coconut oil and
this one is in the flavor Himalayan pink salt. So as far as ingredients, there is
organic cassava flour, organic coconut oil, organic tapioca starch, organic
coconut flour, organic sweet potato flour, and Himalayan salt. So a total of six
ingredients which is not bad for chips. It is also non-gmo, certified paleo, vegan,
and nutrient-dense. Let’s give this a try, shall we. Hmm it smells like coconut.
It looks like bamba, you know the peanut butter puffs that they sell at Trader
Joe’s, it looks just like that. Hmm it tastes good. I can definitely taste the
coconut but it’s not too strong. It has a buttery taste which reminds me of white
cheddar popcorn. I like it, I would buy this again. I give this a 7 out of 10.
Next, I have these cauliflower tortilla chips and this is in the nacho flavor.
As for the ingredients, there’s cassava, organic coconut oil, cauliflower, chia seed, onion, tapioca syrup, salt, tomato, vegetable blend, which is spinach
broccoli carrots tomatoes beets and shiitake mushrooms, garlic, spices, paprika extract, lactic acid and natural flavors. Okay so let’s give this one a try. This
smells healthy and it has little chia seeds inside. So this is my first time trying
cauliflower chips and I definitely think that the texture is a little bit softer
than corn tortilla chips but it still has a good crunch to it. I can taste the
garlic. I probably would buy it again if I was craving Doritos or something. After
all, the ingredients are better than regular Doritos. I would rate this an 8
out of 10. This one is called purple heirloom, heirloom, purple heirloom potato chips, and it’s slow cooked with coconut
oil. The brand is Jackson’s honest and there’s only three ingredients in this
one. So it’s purple heirloom potatoes, organic coconut salt, and sea salt. This
one smells just like regular potato chips. It reminds me purple yam, it’s
thicker than a regular potato chip and has a very pretty purple color. It has a very nice crunch that reminds
me of the kettle cooked chips. I think it’s pretty good. So the back of the bag
explains the slow cooking method. So it’s a slow cooking process which uses low
heat to lock in the flavor while preserving the integrity and the health
benefits of the coconut oil, which is pretty cool. I actually don’t taste the coconut at all
even though it’s cooked in coconut oil. Overall, I think this is pretty good and
I give it a 7 out of 10. Okay, next let’s try this one
by Boulder Canyon. This one is in the flavor classic sea salt.
It’s kettle cooked with avocado oil and again this one only has three
ingredients. Potatoes, avocado oil, and sea salt. This one smells like oil to me, it’s
the kind with the ridges on it. So the texture is very firm and crispy,
but it tastes kinda plain so I think it would make a good dip chip. I don’t taste much of the salt, it’s a
little bit on the oily side for me. But at least it’s avocado oil. Yeah, I’m not a
big fan of this one. I really like that there’s only three ingredients in this,
however flavor-wise I give it a five. This brand is called Wilde, I thought this
was interesting because it’s actually made from chicken breast instead of
potato, and I don’t think I’ve ever had chicken breast chips before. So this
should be interesting but another cool thing about this is that there’s
actually 10 grams of protein per serving. So that’s really good. It says that the
chicken were raised with no antibiotics, it is certified gluten free and it’s
also paleo. These are the ingredients: natural chicken breast, tapioca flour,
expeller pressed high oleic sunflower oil, maple sugar, chicken broth, sea salt,
natural flavor and spice. So a total of 8 ingredients, which is not too bad and I
was able to pronounce all of them. Let’s give it a try. Hmm.. this one smells like
maple syrup and waffles. It definitely looks different than a regular potato
chip since it is chicken breast but at the same time it doesn’t look like
chicken breast either. So this is very crispy and it has a very
strong maple syrup waffle flavor to it and then you get a little bit of the
chicken breast aftertaste. If you like chicken and waffles then most likely you
will like this because it tastes just like chicken and waffles. This one is
pretty delicious, I give it a 9 out of 10. The back of the bag says: dear potato
chips, go cluck yourself. That’s funny. Okay, next we have another bag of chips
from the company called from the ground up, but instead of tortillas this one is
cauliflower stalks. It’s in the sea salt flavor, it’s certified gluten-free, made
with vegan ingredients. So let’s go over the ingredients: cassava, expeller pressed
sunflower oil, cauliflower rice flour, whole grain brown rice flour, sorghum, sea
salt, garlic, salt, parsley, celery seeds, vegetable blend, spinach broccoli carrots
tomatoes beets shitake mushrooms. That’s what it looks like. Mmm.. this smells like
vegetable soup. This reminds me of the Asian egg roll cookies that are really
flaky. The flavor is not strong at all, it’s
very subtle. I taste cauliflower with vegetable seasoning, it’s very light and
airy, it kind of has a flaky texture to it,
it’s crispy at first and then towards the end it kind of melts in your mouth. I
can’t decide if I like this or not. I don’t know, I think this one’s okay. I
give this a 5. Next we have sweet potato chips and this one is also cooked with
coconut oil, and it’s also by the brand Jackon’s Honest. And this one also has
only three ingredients: sweet potatoes, organic coconut oil, and sea salt. Mmm
I really like the smell of this one. It smells like sweet potatoes, it’s very
thick. Mm-hmm, this is really crispy and it has
a natural sweetness from the sweet potato. I think this is really good. This is also slow cooked with coconut
oil but then I still don’t taste the coconut oil. I give this a seven out of
ten. So lastly, we have siete, not sure how to pronounce this, I think it’s siete
grain free tortilla chips. So this one is in the flavor ranch, it is grain free,
gluten free, paleo, vegan friendly, made with avocado oil, dairy free and soy free,
no corn wheat or rice. These are the ingredients: cassava flour, avocado oil,
coconut flour, nutritional yeast, coconut milk powder, ground chia seed, sea salt,
garlic powder, lactic acid, onion powder, citric acid, dill weed, weed, what’s dill
weed? I’ll look it up later, parsley powder. What it looks like on the inside.
Doesn’t really smell like ranch, hmm I can taste the ranch flavor but it’s very
light. Not crazy about this one for some reason. Because the chip is kind of thick it
doesn’t really absorb the flavor very well. These are not my favorite. I have
to say I’m a little bit disappointed in this one, I had high hopes because I like
ranch flavored chips. Yeah, I don’t think I would buy this one again. I give this a
5. And it looks like we ran out of chips to try. Okay, so I’m gonna go over my top
four. In fourth place, we have Jackson’s Honest sweet potato chips, then in third place
we have the lesser evil paleo puffs. Second place is the cauliflower tortilla
chips, and in first place the wilde chicken and waffles. This one
was definitely my favorite so I highly recommend you guys give this a try. Well,
I hope you guys enjoyed my chips review and I will see you guys very soon. buh-
