We all know what it feels like to experience
food cravings. But don’t worry, we’re here to share some
tips on how you can replace your unhealthy cravings with foods that’ll do your body
good. More often than you’d think, thirst is confused
for hunger or food cravings. If you haven’t had anything to drink in
a while then try drinking a large glass of water or a cup of tea and wait for a few minutes. You may find that your cravings fade away,
and your body was simply thirsty. Sugar cravings are common and there are ways
to calm your sweet tooth using healthy alternatives. Swapping out the junk food for some whole
fruit may give your body the sweet hit that it craves. They don’t just contain natural sugar but
are also rich in fibre, healthy nutrients and plant compounds that keep the body fit. So the next time you crave sugar, try a melon
or some grapes instead. Let’s be honest, the first thing that our
sweet tooth drives us to is chocolate. But did you know by simply switching to dark
chocolate, you can tame your craving while being healthy? Dark chocolate has at least 70% cocoa and
is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that improve heart health. However, just regulate how much you eat. A great snack to satisfy your craving for
potato chips is butter free popcorn. Not only does it have heart disease-fighting
abilities but it’s also rich in antioxidants. Another alternative are cashews, almonds,
or any kind of nuts that you like. Nuts tend to boost your energy and keep you
full for longer but remember, they’re high on calories so moderation is key. To combat your craving for a sip of something
aerated or sweet, try having sparkling water with a squeeze of juice. The drink will give the same effect of soda
without the calories or caffeine. Iced tea can also be an effective and tasty
option! French fries can be super addictive and we
know how hard it is to cut down on it. But a great alternative for french fries is
hummus and vegetable stickes. Packed with vitamins and minerals, hummus
can reduce inflammation, risk of heart disease and aid digestion. When paired with nutrient-rich vegetables
like carrots, beetroots or even cucumber, the snack can be both healthy and delicious. Everybody loves a scoop of ice cream once
in a while but the tasty dessert is basically churned fat and sugar. Frozen yoghurt is a great alternative as its
low on fat and sugar and contains probiotics that help with digestion. Another alternative is to blend frozen bananas
to make your own ice cream. You can add, peanut or almond butter to add
a kick of flavour. Use these tips to switch to healthy food alternatives
